Civil Aviation Authority of the Velocity Interoperability Network Established

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Authority is the regulator of civil aviation in the Network. It is responsible for the structure and safe use of Network airspace, for the certification of aerodromes, for the licensing of pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers and remote pilots, for the certification of operators, for the aircraft register, and for the oversight of safety across all of these activities.

With its establishment complete, the Authority today launches its official website at aviation.gov.vin. The site carries press releases and official statements, the structure of Network airspace and the areas in which flight is prohibited or restricted, the register of aerodromes, guidance on licensing and aircraft registration, and the arrangements for reporting occurrences. It will be extended as the Authority's programmes come into operation.

During the four weeks before establishment, member organisations of the Network transferred their aviation functions to the Authority in formation: the records of 214 aircraft, 1,120 licence holders, 14 operators and six aerodromes. The publication of the airspace structure and the register of aerodromes, the opening of licensing and aircraft registration on 14 September 2026, and the Authority's safety oversight programme and first statistical release are the subject of separate announcements published today.
